Si hanno notizie del Castello Svevo dal 1229 quando fu redatto il documento con

il quale l’imperatore Federico II di Svevia ratifica il possesso, da parte di Recana-
ti, delle terre che andavano dal Musone al Potenza, autorizzandovi la costruzione
di un nuovo porto e delle strutture atte a difenderlo. La concessione federiciana
venne confermata nel 1240 da papa Gregorio IX e, nel 1243, sotto il pontificato
di Innocenzo IV divenne porto franco. La Polisini Group ha effettuato piu interven-
ti consistenti in ristrutturazione dell’Arena all’interno del complesso, restauro dei
paramenti murari esterni e della Torre principale, sostituzione del quadrante dell’o-
rologio e dapprima intervento urgente di messa in sicurezza della vela campanaria,
successivamente smontaggio e ricostruzione di tale vela.
Some news on the Swabian Castle date back to 1229 when they drew up the document
through which the Emperor Federick II ratified the possession, by Recanati, of the areas
crossing from Musone to Potenza, authorizing the construction of a new harbor and the
buildings to protect it. This authorization was confirmed in 1240 by Pope Gregory IX
and, in 1243, under Pope Innocent IV, it became a free harbour. Polisini Group carried out
considerable restoration works of the Arena within the complex, as well as the restora-
tion of the outer wall faces and the main tower, replacement of the clock face, securing
of the bell towers, their dismantling and subsequent reconstruction.
